Bio:
Madison McSweeney is an Ottawa-based writer with a passion for music, genre fiction, and all things unusual.
Fiction
Madison has published horror, fantasy, and science fiction stories in over a dozen outlets.
Drawing from classic horror and science fiction, but often featuring surreal, nightmarish and satirical twists, her stories explore the spaces where reality and nightmare intersect, hinting at a larger and stranger world just beyond our comprehension.

Madison’s poetry has appeared in Ottawa-based publications The Fulcrum and Bywords, as well as literary magazines Cockroach Conservatory, Lonesome October Lit, and Rhythm & Bones: Dark Marrow.

Non-Fiction
A former student journalist, Madison got her start covering the arts scene for uOttawa’s The Fulcrum campus newspaper, which sent her to a number of local events from fashion shows to music festivals.
Her accredited coverage of the JUNO Awards has also appeared in outlets such as Bravewords, Hellbound, and Music Vice.
She can often be found attending local live music gigs and reviewing them for this blog.
Commentary
As a hardcore fan of music, movies, books, and comics, Madison writes a lot of reviews that can be found here and over on Goodreads.
She’s contributed blog posts to Horror Tree for Women in Horror Month, and her overview of Alice Cooper’s autobiography Golf Monster was published as part of Ginger Nuts of Horror‘s Alice in Summerland series.
