Singer-guitarist Terra Lightfoot thrilled a rowdy crowd at JUNOfest on Saturday night.
Headlining JUNOs festivities at the Imperial Vancouver, the Adult Alternative Album of the Year nominee alternated between smoldering blues ballads and spiky rockers.
Towards the end of the set, she conducted a successful singalong for the sly ”Two Hearts,” which she described as a “sassy woman song.”
“A lot of men have these sassy songs about doing whatever the f**k they want,” she explained. “This is mine.”
After being called back for an encore, she concluded the show with a blues-drenched cover of Black Sabbath’s “Sweetleaf.”
(Earlier that evening, Lightfoot impressed attendees at the 2018 Juno Gala Dinner and Awards with her mournful In Memoriam performance of “Norma Gail”).
With killer pipes, a rock-n-roll attitude, and a rich sound recalling the scorching blues-rock of the 1970s, Lightfoot is definitely an artist to watch out for.
